The 32-mile Coastal Rail Trail has been a long anticipated public-use improvement project

The first segment of the project includes widening the San Lorenzo River Trestle Walkway from 4 feet to 10 feet to make it more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. MME is the Engineer of Record contracted with the City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department to prepare plans, specifications and estimates for the Trestle widening portion of the project. Our design solution to widen the existing walkway will save the City millions of dollars, compared to the original plan for an entirely new bridge. We are excited to be involved in this project, the greater portion of which will provide alternative “green” transportation to the public. The groundbreaking commenced on January 10, 2010.
